FAQs
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Painting a veil takes 2-4 weeks depending on the size of the veil and my availability.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY PAINTED VEIL?
Your veil should be hung for 12-24 hours before it’s worn to allow any creases to drop out. Do not allow it to come into contact with anything hot such as hair dryers or irons.
It can be hand washed gently using hand wash detergent only.
HOW MUCH DOES A PAINTED VEIL COST?
Prices start at £200.
DO YOU PAINT OTHER GARMENTS?
Yes, I can paint on any garment. Popular choices include capes, bridesmaids dresses and shawls, just ask!
Debbie Starr
Hand-crafter of beautiful veils
I began painting on silk 25 years ago, when I was living in Denmark. Over the years I have worked on and perfected a technique that I now use on all kinds of veils.
Painting on fabric is a wonder to me, the way the paint reacts and moves over the fibres is a fascinating process. I love the way the colours blend and change as the painting develops, the colours changing as they dry. Images I paint changing shape. It is alchemy of sorts.
But what is even more special to me is watching a bride’s face light up when she sees that I have made her dream veil a reality.
